How to Win a Culture Victory with Egypt

Egypt's real ability — a Production bonus for anything built next to a Navigable River, not the commonly-repeated 'cheap Wonders' myth — still points toward the same endpoint: a Wonder-dense capital that snowballs into a Culture Victory.

The Approach

Because the bonus applies to districts as well as Wonders, settle your capital on a Navigable River and build Theater Square early to catch both the Production discount and the district's own Wonder-adjacency bonus. Ramesses II specifically converts a share of every construction cost into Culture directly, which compounds especially well with a Wonder-heavy build order.

Key Steps

  • Confirm your capital has genuine Navigable River access before committing to this plan — the bonus does not apply to ordinary river tiles.
  • Build Amphitheaters and Art Museums early so Great Writers and Great Artists have somewhere to place their Great Works as your Wonder count climbs.
  • If you drew Ramesses II specifically, prioritize Wonders over regular buildings even more aggressively — his Culture-from-construction ability rewards it directly.
