How to Win a Culture Victory with Greece

Plato's Republic — an extra Wildcard policy slot from the very first government onward — is a genuinely flexible bonus, but it compounds especially well with Culture-focused policy cards that other civilizations have to choose between.

The Approach

Use the extra Wildcard slot to run a Culture-boosting policy card alongside your government's normal slate from turn one, rather than having to choose between economic and cultural cards the way other civilizations must. Acropolis districts (Greece's Theater Square replacement) require Hills but give a stronger Culture adjacency in exchange, so plan your city sites with Hills access in mind if you're committing to this path.

Key Steps

  • Slot a Culture-focused Wildcard card as early as your government allows — the extra slot exists precisely so you don't have to sacrifice something else for it.
  • Settle with Hills access specifically for Acropolis placement — it's a real requirement, not a suggestion.
  • Hoplites pair well if you need to defend a wide, Culture-focused empire without diverting much investment into a dedicated military branch.
