Brazil

Brazil turns rainforest terrain most civilizations clear away into a district adjacency asset, backed by a unique Carnival district that fuels Great People.

Unique Ability

"Amazon": Rainforest tiles grant +1 adjacency bonus to Campus, Commercial Hub, Holy Site, and Theater Square districts, and give +1 Appeal to adjacent tiles instead of the usual -1. Pedro II's own ability, "Magnanimous," refunds 20% of a Great Person's point cost after recruiting or patronizing them.

Unique Unit: Minas Geraes

An Industrial era unit replacing the Battleship, stronger than the unit it replaces and unlocked with the Nationalism civic.

Unique Infrastructure: Street Carnival

A district unique to Brazil that replaces the Entertainment Complex, providing +2 Amenities and unlocking the Carnival project, which grants a further Amenity while underway and a mix of Great People points once completed. (A second unique district, the Copacabana, replaces the Water Park with the same Carnival mechanic for coastal cities.)

How to Play Brazil

  • Keep rainforest tiles intact around your specialty districts rather than clearing them โ€” the adjacency bonus applies to four different district types at once.
  • Run the Carnival project regularly โ€” the Great People point mix from completing it is one of Brazil's best long-term engines.
  • Lean toward a Culture Victory if your start includes substantial rainforest terrain near your capital.
