Civilization VII · Exploration Age

Majapahit

Majapahit builds a coastal Specialist economy unlike any other Exploration civ — but its bonuses are explicitly tied to staying Majapahit, making it a poor choice if you plan to evolve into a different civilization next Age.

Unique Ability

"Negara" grants Culture Buildings an adjacency bonus with Coast tiles and increases the Specialist Limit in Districts on or adjacent to Coast, plus increased Culture (and later Production) on Marine terrain in Cities. A genuine catch: if you transition away from Majapahit at the next Age Transition, the Specialist Limit increase disappears and any Specialists placed under it become inactive until you raise the limit some other way.

Unique Unit

Details on Majapahit's specific unique units were not part of the source material verified for this page — flagged for a follow-up pass against the official Civilopedia or game guide.

Unique Infrastructure

Majapahit receives increased Production toward constructing its associated Wonder, the Borobudur.

How to Play Majapahit

  • Commit to staying Majapahit through the Exploration Age if you're leaning into the Specialist strategy — transitioning away deactivates the very Specialists the civ is built around.
  • Settle and build Culture infrastructure specifically along the coast — the adjacency bonuses and Specialist Limit increase both require Coast proximity.
  • Lean into Marine terrain development generally — both tiers of the core ability reward Cities with Marine tiles in their radius.
