Civilization VII · Modern Age · DLC

Siam

Siam is built around instant City-State control — a unique Diplomatic Action that skips the normal Befriend-then-Suzerain process entirely, at a real Influence premium for the shortcut.

Unique Ability

"Itsaraphab" grants a Diplomatic Action that lets you become Suzerain of a City-State immediately, at a higher Influence cost than the normal path of Befriending Independents first. Later tiers add Culture for every active Diplomatic Action and Culture plus Gold for every Trade Route you maintain with another civilization.

Unique Unit

The Chang Beun is a unique Ranged unit with increased Movement and Combat Strength that can move after attacking. The Uparat is a unique Great Person Unit, trainable only once you're Suzerain of at least one City-State, with the specific individual received at random from a pool — each can only be received once, and cost rises with every Uparat already trained.

Unique Infrastructure

The Bang is a unique Quarter-level Improvement granting Culture and Happiness; it must be placed on a Navigable River. The associated Wonder, Doi Suthep, adds Culture and Gold for every City-State you're Suzerain of, and must be built on Rough terrain.

How to Play Siam

  • Use the instant-Suzerain action selectively — it's expensive in Influence, so save it for City-States genuinely worth locking down immediately rather than every one you encounter.
  • Build toward Suzerainty over at least one City-State early if you want access to Uparats — it's a hard prerequisite for training them at all.
  • Maintain active Diplomatic Actions and Trade Routes continuously — Siam's later-tier bonuses reward an empire that stays diplomatically and economically engaged, not one that sets up once and coasts.
