Civ VII is still under active development — this page tracks major patches, Content Collection releases, and mechanical changes as they land, cross-referenced against Firaxis's own official Game Update Notes.
Test of Time Update Launches — Time-Tested Civs, Reworked Victory Scoring
Firaxis's biggest post-launch update reverses the most common launch complaint: you can now stay with one civilization across all three Ages instead of being forced to switch at every Age Transition. The update also added running scores across all four victory types throughout each Age, and brought back Alexander the Great as a free leader for everyone who owned the game before the update.
Hotseat Multiplayer Mode Added in Update 1.4.1
One of the community's most-requested features finally arrived: local multiplayer where players pass the controller and take turns on the same device. The update also introduced a new Archipelago map type and reworked how Happiness and Governments function turn-to-turn.
Brush and Blade Collection, Part 1, Released
The newest paid Content Collection focuses on East Asian history, adding leader Toyotomi Hideyoshi and two new civilizations, Heian Japan and Sengoku Japan, along with four new Wonders. Part 2, focused on Korean history and adding leader Yi Sun-sin with civilizations Goryeo and Joseon, is scheduled later in the summer.
